Success at Aydon Castle!

History was brought to life at Aydon Castle, nr Corbridge, with great success!

Peasants' Life was part of our Life in the Past events for 2017 and having worked closely with the manager of Aydon Castle we managed to put on the display on 9th April.

With in the castle walls we had our medieval camp where we displayed cooking, bowl turning, net making and more. We also had a space to perform our weapons display. During this display there was an opportunity for the children in the crowd to come up and have a go. They were given foam swords and a small amount of training before going up against our intrepid warriors. It is safe to say we were well and truly beaten!

The day was lovely with lots of sun and lots of people showing up to see what was going on. It was a great success for both ourselves, especially being out first event outside of Cumbria, and for Aydon Castle, which saw a boost in regular visitor numbers.

We hope that we will return to the castle next year for even more peasants' life!
